British Columbia is a province in western Canada, located on the Canadian Pacific coast.
Time zones in British Columbia
In British Columbia, Pacific Standard Time (PST; UTC-08:00) is predominantly observed. During the summer months, clocks are set forward one hour, at which point Pacific Daylight Time (PDT; UTC-07:00) applies. However, there are several exceptions:
The following areas in southeastern British Columbia follow Mountain Standard Time (MST; UTC-07:00)—with Mountain Daylight Time (MDT; UTC-06:00) applying during the summer months:
- The town of Golden and Electoral Area A within the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District, with the exception of the portion located within Glacier National Park.
- The majority of the East Kootenay Regional District, with the exception of a portion of Electoral Area C that encompasses Ryan Provincial Park.
The following areas in eastern British Columbia observe Mountain Standard Time (MST; UTC-07:00) year-round and do not observe daylight saving time:
- A portion of Electoral Area C of the East Kootenay Regional District.
Electoral Areas A, B, and C, as well as the town of Creston, within the Central Kootenay Regional District. - The entire Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.
- The majority of the Peace River Regional District, with the exception of Kwadacha, Tsay Keh Dene First Nation, and portions of Electoral Area B located west of the Muskwa Ranges.
